SUNDAY 3/29 💻 Listening Lab 001: On Sound & Attention
A 2 hour seminar on sound, attention, listening, the soundscape, & various applications of these ideas. 11:30am-1:30pm PST ONLINE ~ all interested are welcome to register ~ you don’t have to have sound experience or be working on sound (artists, writers, the sound-curious, all humans, etc are all welcome to join) ~ born out of a curriculum I’ve been working on called The Listening Artist, I’ll guide us through the work of various artists, writers, & theorists, through experiential exercises & writing, and we’ll discuss how to apply what we’ve practiced into our lives.
Currently, I primarily create & present multichannel audio works. The inspiration to begin with this Listening Lab? The number one thing I am focused on during the creation process is how the spatialization of sound will guide the attention of whoever is experiencing my sound work. We won’t be getting into making audio installations as this is not a studio course, it’s a seminar ~but~ it’s possible we may talk about that too if you’d like at a later date ;-)
